Since 1948 The Rotary Club of Morganton has named the Distinguished Person of the Year. The 2017 award goes to John Cantrell. John is a native of Morganton and has actively volunteered in over 20 organizations including First Baptist Church, Habitat for Humanity, United Way, Blue Ridge Healthcare, Historic Morganton Festival, Burke County Public Library and served on the Morganton City Council for 17 years.
