Rotary Club of Morganton Wraps Up District Grant for Habitat for Humanity
Under the guidance of Habitat Super Volunteer David Pollpeter, members of the Rotary Club of Morganton showed up the morning of Saturday, March 21, to help install shelving into a new trailer the Club purchased for the area non-profit. The 7-foot by 16-foot tandem axle work trailer doubles the number of Habitat trailers, allowing Habitat to work on multiple homes at two locations now, increasing the speed in which new homes can be built. The new trailer also provides for missing additional storage that resulted from a trailer theft in the fall.
Rotary Club of Morganton donated $10000 toward the purchase of the new trailer which included a grant of $2000 from Rotary International District 7670 as part of Rotary’s District Grant Program. These funds helped purchase the trailer along with materials to upfit it to function as a work trailer.
The club “adopted” Habitat as one charity of choice for 2025-2026, which entailed partnering in various activities for the year. Besides upfitting the trailer, the club participated in a home build, attended a new homeowner ceremony, and Club members volunteered to assist with decorating the Habitat Re-Store in Morganton for the 2025 holiday season.
